tradition that marks the beginning of the “Novena” in honour
of Our Lady of

Consolation

- Musical groups
that are dispersed throughout the town will assemble at midnight
in the Piazza del Popolo for a large Bon Fire with singing,
dancing and music until Dawn followed by an early morning Mass
marking the Novena
and beginning of Celebrations for the Feast of our Lady of
Consolation (Mass to begin at 6:00 a.m.)

Note:
The
Torchlight Procession known as “La Fiaccolata” is a wonderful
new custom that
takes
place during the Novena of Our Lady of Consolation in Brognaturo.
It usually
takes
place on one night of the week leading up to the Feast of Our Lady
of Consolation.
The
Procession begins at a small chapel on Corso Roma known as La Cona.
(La Cona was built in the sixties, and is situated in the area
called “Sandello” and contains the statue of the Sacred Heart
and ends in the town square also known as “La Piazza.”
It usually takes place at dusk.
