Raffaele Papa, the oldest of six children along
with Rosina, Domenico, Giuseppe, Giuliana and Bruno,
was born in 1923 in Brognaturo from parents Stella Tucci and
Nicola Papa. In 1950 he married Rosina Valente. They had
three children in Brognaturo: Nicola, Damiano Bruno
and Consolata . Raffaele
emigrated to
Germany
to work and sent home most of his pay to his wife who in the
meantime was raising the children. In 1968 he emigrated to
Australia
along with his two boys. In 1969, his wife Rosina and
daughter Consolata take the trip across the ocean by boat
and join the rest of the family in
Australia
. In 1970 Raffaele and Rosina are blessed with the
arrival of a baby girl: Giuliana. She is named in memory of
Raffaele's sister who passed away
prematurely. Raffaele
works hard in a steel factory for twenty years. In 1984 he
visits his family in Brognaturo for the last time. He is
forced to retire at the age of
62 due to his failing health. Meanwhile Raffaele’s
children got married and in turn give Raffaele and Rosina
nine grandchildren. Raffaele loved his grandchildren to
death. He would do anything for his family. Unfortunately
he passed away on June 10th
2009 and his whole family misses him very much.

primogenito di sei
figli assieme a Rosina, Domenico,
Giuseppe, Giuliana e Bruno nasce nel 1923 a
Brognaturo dai genitori Stella Tucci e Nicola Papa. Nel 1950
sposa Rosina Valente e nascono tre figli a Brognaturo:
Nicola, Damiano Bruno e Consolata . Raffaele emigra in
Germania
a lavorare e manda a casa gran parte della sua paga alla
moglie che nel frattempo provvede a far crescere i figli.
Nel 1968 emigra
in
Australia
assieme ai due figli maschi. Nel 1969, la moglie Rosina
assieme alla figlioletta Consolata prendono la nave e
raggiungono il resto della famiglia. Nel 1970, Raffaele e
Rosina hanno la gioia di vedere arrivare un’altra bambina:
Giuliana, cosi chiamata in ricordo della sorella di Raffaele
scomparsa prematuramente.
In Australia Raffaele lavora duramente per
vent’anni in una fabbrica
del
ferro e nel 1984 va
per l’ultima
volta
in Italia a visitare i suoi familiari. Alla sola
eta’ di 62 anni e’costretto ad andare in pensione
per motivi di salute. Nel frattempo i suoi figli si sposano
ed a loro
volta
danno a Raffaele e Rosina nove nipotini.
Raffaele vuole un bene da morire ai suoi nipotini.
Lui e’ un uomo che fa’ di tutto per la sua famiglia.
Purtroppo viene a mancare il 10 giugnol 2009 e tutta
la sua famiglia ne sente la mancanza.
