This year I stayed at the village longer then usual and at that time the organization (t.n. brognaturo in the heart) started the preparation for next year’s Big Reunion. They set up to have two meetings per week for the next few months. The planning activities have started and are proceeding well. A heartfelt thank you goes to Mimmo and the rest of the gang from me and all of the emigrants for the work they are doing for us. I repeat what I have said in many previous occasions: you are doing a great job by organizing a big event starting from nothing and if something doesn’t work out the way it should don’t worry, we understand that it will be difficult until the end. Quest'anno, sono stato al paese, un pò piu' del solito ed in quel periodo è partita l'organizzazione per il raduno del prossimo anno, sul come e che cosa fare. Sono state programmate due riunioni a settimana e continuerà così anche per i prossimi mesi. L'attività è già partita ed è in pieno svolgimento. Da parte mia e sono sicuro che anche da parte di tutti quanti gli emigrati di Brognaturo, un grazie di cuore a Mimmo ed agli altri amici dell'Associazione, che stanno lavorando per noi emigrati, con tanta volontà ed abnegazione . Ribadisco quanto detto in precedenti occasioni e cioè che state facendo un ottimo lavoro, in quanto state organizzando un grande evento, partendo dal nulla . Se qualcosa non và come vorremmo, non preoccupatevi, perchè capiamo le mille difficoltà a cui andrete incontro da qui fino alla fine dell'incontro e comunque vedremo il bicchiere sempre mezzo pieno e mai mezzo vuoto. After the summer break that seems to have lasted a little bit longer than usual, we take on once more the exchange of ideas with regard to the ' Big Reunion of 2010”. Not that we stopped communicating among ourselves all of this time, but most of the time we do it via email and sometimes by phone. We know that in Brognaturo, it is widely discussed on how to plan the event and we want inputs from all over the world. Therefore 'we must not be afraid to write and express our ideas about it on this blog where we can express ourselves in any language and I'm sure we'll be able to translate everything. Going back to the planning of the Reunion, the president of Brognaturonelcuore, Mimmo Giordano, asks everyone what we would expect at the upcoming event so that they can make an appropriate program. Well, we have met (the founders of the "Brognaturo Club of Thunder Bay") and we understand that for us it is important to have a general meeting at the convent of the Annunciation to meet,, see each other, talk, etc ... All accompanied by tables of 'finger food'. Also, perhaps give symbolic prizes (for example, certificates of recognition or plaques signed by the municipal officials ) to emigrants who for various reasons are considered deserving by the local people. Another point was to organize a trip to some of those places that we see in the beautiful photographs of the site 'brognaturonelcuore'. In fact many of us have never had occasion to see and appreciate some of the beauties of our area of origin and this would be a great chance. The last point for us is “the Monument of the Emigrants” which we spoke a little' while ago '. We have realized that very few people have publicly given their contribution to the idea of a piece of work like this one. Works of art that are very few in the world and it seems they are always in places where people are 'immigrated'and not in places where people came from. Well, if nothing else for now we would like to make a symbolic inauguration of this project because 'the idea will' only be postponed and not abandoned. In conclusion I would like to thank the chairman Mimmo Giordano who give us some goose bumps with these beautiful words he wrote in an email addressed to me and I read to the other members that says: "its a project in which I strongly believe in (the Big Reunion), because 'I think never was appreciated the role of the emigrants and the sacrifice you have made and continue to make. We have spent a few words for what you have represented for our village, for our region and for the whole of Italy. " Touching words that make us feel really proud to have been able to establish or renew a relationship with the friends of our village. Again thank you, Mimmo Giordano and all of the others who are working with him to make this great event a reality '. Dopo la pausa estiva che sembra sia durata un po’ piu’del solito, riprendiamo sul discorso della pianificazione del ‘Grande Raduno 2010’. Non e’ che abbiamo proprio smesso di comunicare tra di noi, ma la maggior parte delle volte lo facciamo tramite email ed a volte anche per telefono. Sappiamo che a Brognaturo, si discute ampiamente di come programmare l’evento e ci vogliono imputs da tutte le parti del mondo. Percio’ non si deve avere timore a scrivere ed esprimere le nostre idee a riguardo su questo blog che ci si puo’ esprimere in qualsiasi lingua e sono sicuro che saremo in grado di tradurre il tutto. Ritornando al discorso della programmazione del raduno , il presidente di Brognaturonelcuore, Mimmo Giordano, cortesemente vuol sapere cosa ci aspetteremmo alla festa in modo che si possa fare una programmazione adeguata. Ebbene, noi ci siamo riuniti (i soci fondatori del “Brognaturo Club di Thunder Bay”) ed abbiamo capito che per noi e' importante avere una riunione generale al convento dell’Annunziata per conoscersi, rivedersi, parlare, etc... IL tutto accompagnato da una tavolata di ‘finger food’ (cibo che si mangia con le dita) e forse anche dare dei premi simbolici (per esempio: certificati di riconoscimento oppure targhette firmate dall’amministrazione comunale ) ad emigrati che per vari motivi siano ritenuti meritevoli dalla gente del luogo. Poi, un’altro punto era quello di organizzare una gita in qualcuno di quei posti che vediamo nelle bellissime fotografie del sito di ‘brognaturonelcuore’. In fatti molti di noi non hanno mai avuto occasione di vedere ed apprezzare alcune bellezze del nostro territorio e questa sarebbe l’occasione buona. Poi, l’ultimo punto per noi e’ il monumento degli emigrati di cui avevamo parlato un po’ di tempo fa’. Ci siamo resi conto che pubblicamente pochissimi hanno dato il loro contributo all’idea di un’opera come questa che guarda caso ce ne sono poche nel mondo e sembra che siano sempre nei luoghi dove la gente e’ emigrata e non nei luoghi da dove la gente e’ partita. Ebbene, se per adesso niente altro e’possibile, ci piacerebbe fare una inaugurazione simbolica a questo progetto perche’ l’idea sara’ soltanto posticipata e non accantonata. In conclusione vorrei ringraziare il presidente Mimmo Giordano che ci ha fatto venire un po’ la pelle d’oca con queste bellissime parole da lui scrittomi in una email e che io ho letto agli altri soci e che dice : “e’ un progetto in cui ci credo molto (il raduno), perche’ secondo me mai si e’ apprezzato il ruolo degli emigrati ed il sacrificio che avete fatto e continuate a fare. Si sono spese poche parole per quello che avete rappresentato per i nostri paesi, per la nostra regione e per l’Italia intera”. Parole toccanti che ci fanno sentire veramente fieri di avere potuto allacciare o riallacciare un rapporto con gli amici del nostro paese di origine. Di nuovo ringrazio Mimmo Giordano e gli altri che con lui si stanno impegnando a far diventare questo Grande Evento una realta’.
