Thank you guys, it was a pleasure working with you. Posting a message from the end is certainly not the usual way of posting a message on a blog, but this is what happened to me. I had to post the end of my message first, and then the beginning of the message. The reason for this message is naturally the Reunion of 2010. I read that a meeting was scheduled to establish a committee for the 2010 Reunion and I had a great desire to participate in the first meeting. Since I had already book a trip to the town, I called Benito and asked if the date could be postponed by as few days. Said and done, the meeting date was changed by as few days and I was able to participate in the first meeting that took place on February 17, 2009. A group of friends met to give life to a committee of volunteers. The first meeting focused on drafting up rules and regulations to be followed by the committee and a rough draft of the programming for the Reunion. The meeting that followed focused on fine tuning some of the ideas, even if at times some shared different opinions and ideas (this is always the case when there are more than two people), in the end, we always found the ideal solution. That is, all the participants were prepared to plan and establish something that was concrete and positive. I would like to point out that the committee established is non political, non party and independent of political parties, is a non profit organization that depends on the work of volunteers, and there is no comparison or opposition with anyone or anything. Many times, both Checco and Mimmo ensured that decisions assumed and made on the web were made knowledgeable to everyone. In a meeting that took place on February 15, 2009, a few days prior to Club’s (Brognaturo in the Heart’s) meeting the founding member (including me) elected a President – Mimmo Giordano who was elected by acclamation. One of the aspirations of the Club Brognaturo in the Heart is to stimulate friendships and fraternity amongst the Immigrants, their children, their descendents and their town of origins. With regards to the 2010 Reunion 1. The days established for the Reunion will be autonomous of the Feast of Our lady of Consolation, even though there will be great collaboration with the Feast Committee. 2. The days established for the Reunion will be the days prior to the beginning of the Novena and including some days during the Novena which in order to have full events during that period, on days that will not be utilized by the Feast Committee. 3. Once the committee “Brognaturo in the Heart” has been registered, a bank account will be set up where individuals can make voluntary donations that will be specifically designated for the 2010 Reunion. Also, with regards to the Immigrant Monument, at the appropriate time in the future, we will advise everyone that donations for the monument will be accepted, and donations can be made in the same manner including first and last name as well as indicating or noting that the donation is for the monument. It is very important that the correct reason is included on the deposit slip in order to avoid confusion. This will allow us to distinguish what funds are deposited for the Reunion and what funds are deposited for the Monument. In addition, Carmela has been working with great patience on compiling a list of immigrants that will be added to the existing list at City Hall. Giuseppe Iennarella (son of Ganni di Rullu) who is the Vice Mayor will be representing the City Council in a joint venture with the Committee “Brognaturo in the Heart”, for the Reunion and has volunteered to ensure that this project is carried out and that the information is mailed to all Immigrants. In addition, the priest of the town Don Francesco has begun to inform the town’s people of this great event during the various Masses celebrated. For the benefit of the Reunion, I hope and wish that a positive and productive relationship is established with the institutions and other associations and committees in the territory. E’ sicuramente un modo non usuale cominciare a scrivere una lettera o altro, iniziando dalla fine, come succede a me in questa occasione. L’argomento è naturalmente il raduno del 2010. Avendo letto che era in programma la riunione per la costituzione di un’associazione, ed avendo fissata una visita al paese, ho telefonato a Benito, chiedendo se si poteva ritardare di qualche giorno, in quanto avrei avuto piacere che , alla prima riunione, partecipassi pure io. Detto e fatto. Dopo qualche giorno che sono arrivato è stata fissata la data e così il 17.2.09 , ci siamo incontrati un gruppo d’amici con l’intento di dare vita ad un’associazione di volontariato. Al primo incontro, ne sono seguiti altri, per mettere a punto una prima stesura di statuto ed una bozza di programmazione. Nel corso delle varie riunioni, anche se qualche volta i pareri erano diversi ( com’è normale che ci sia quando si confrontano due o piu’ persone), alla fine però, si è sempre trovata la soluzione ritenuta piu’ idonea , in quanto, in tutti i partecipanti, vi era la massima disponibilità a creare qualcosa di concreto e positivo . Comunque, l’associazione è apolitica, apartitica, senza scopo di lucro , si basa sul volontariato , non si mette a confronto e in contrapposizione con niente e nessuno . Sia Checco che Mimmo, in vari interventi, hanno portato a conoscenza di tutti sul Web, le varie decisioni assunte. Nell’ultima riunione del 15.2.09, in attesa della prima riunione dell’assemblea, è stato eletto dai soci fondatori ( compreso il sottoscritto) il Presidente, nella persona di Mimmo Giordano ( elezione avvenuta per acclamazione). Fra gli scopi dell’associazione, vi è pure quello di “ stimolare ed intrattenere legami d’amicizia e fraternità tra gli emigrati, i loro figli, i loro discendenti che si trovano all’estero ed il loro paese d’origine “ . Per quanto riguarda il raduno del 2010, si è stabilito : 1) i giorni del raduno sono organizzati dall’associazione in maniera autonoma dalla festa, anche se in stretta collaborazione con la commissione ; 2) i giorni saranno quelli immediatamente prima dell’inizio della novena ed anche dentro la novena stessa per meglio “ riempirli di manifestazioni” considerato che non tutti sono utilizzati dalla commissione stessa ; 3) effettuata la registrazione dell’associazione, verrà aperto un c/c postale, dove poter effettuare dei versamenti volontari, finalizzati al raduno del 2010. E’ importante quindi che nel bollettino di versamento, oltre al nome e cognome, venga indicata la causale; 4) anche per quanto riguarda il monumento degli emigrati, al momento opportuno , sarà data la comunicazione di poter effettuare dei contributi volontari,ed anche in questo caso va specificata la causale del versamento. Questo per evitare confusione e/o disguidi nell’assegnare i contributi per il raduno e per il monumento; 5) per gli alloggi dei paesani e/o amici che non hanno la possibilità di essere ospitati presso parenti, la soluzione finale è quella di soggiornare in uno dei tanti alberghi che ci sono nella zona, dopo aver valutato attentamente le varie offerte ; ……….. A questi elenchi si aggiungerà l’altro elenco di persone che , con grande pazienza, Carmela sta preparando . A questo proposito, l’amministrazione comunale, nella persona del Vice-Sindaco, Iennarella Giuseppe ( il figlio di Gianni di Rullu) si è dichiarato disponibile a portare a termine questo progetto, dopo le opportune delibere della Giunta Comunale. Fra l’altro, anche l’Arciprete Don Francesco, ha iniziato a portarlo a conoscenza del paese, durante la celebrazione delle varie messe. L’augurio di tutti è che si crei un positivo e produttivo rapporto con le istituzioni e con le associazioni del territorio, per la buona riuscita della manifestazione . Concludo così come ho iniziato: “ Grazie ragazzi, è stato un piacere lavorare con voi “ , anche se sono consapevole che il vero lavoro comincia adesso.
